C2 Paint named Pueblo (C2-510) its 2027 Color of the Year. The brand describes this earthy mauve as a shifting blend between pink and terracotta: rosy and floral in daylight, then deeper, warmer and more earthen as evening light fades. Because those changes depend on a room’s light and surroundings, C2 recommends trying a sample in the space where you plan to use it.
What color is C2 Paint’s 2027 Color of the Year?
Pueblo (C2-510) is C2 Paint’s 2027 Color of the Year. C2 describes it as “neither pink nor terracotta,” but an earthy mauve that sits between the two. The company’s Color of the Year page presents Pueblo as a color whose character changes with its environment, rather than a shade that reads exactly the same in every setting.
In daylight, C2 says, Pueblo can show rosy, floral and plum notes. As the light drops in the evening, it can look darker, warmer and more earthen. Those are the brand’s descriptions, not a promise of a particular result in every room: window direction, artificial lighting, nearby colors and materials all affect how paint appears.

How to judge Pueblo in your room
Look at a physical sample where the color will be used and observe it at different times of day. A small swatch viewed only under store lighting or on a screen may not show the shift C2 describes. The company says digital color representations are for reference only and provides a sample-order route on its official Color of the Year page, along with a retailer locator.
For a useful comparison, place the sample near the finishes that will stay in the room—flooring, counters, cabinetry, stone or upholstery—and check it in both daylight and the room’s usual evening lighting. That helps reveal whether Pueblo’s rosy side or its warmer, earthier side feels more prominent in your particular space.
Where C2 suggests using Pueblo
C2 presents Pueblo as an option for broad surfaces as well as smaller accents. Its suggested interior applications include dining rooms, kitchens, entries and living spaces.
- Walls: Use it across a room when you want its mauve character to be a major part of the palette; sample first to see how the room’s light affects it.
- Cabinetry and architectural details: A more contained application can introduce the color without making every wall part of the decision.
- Front doors and exterior details: C2 also suggests Pueblo outdoors. Whether it suits a larger exterior area depends on the architecture and landscape around it.
The brand recommends pairing the paint with tactile materials such as wood, stone, plaster, woven fibers, aged metals and handmade objects. These are palette suggestions, not a fixed formula; sample combinations in the actual space before committing.

C2’s Rural Renaissance palette names three companion colors. The company says these pairings can bring forward different aspects of Pueblo, from earthier to more botanical or warmer.
| Color | C2 code | C2 description | How C2 says it relates to Pueblo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Death by Chocolate | C2-805 | Rich brown with violet undertones | Part of the palette; C2 says the combinations can bring out earthier aspects of Pueblo. |
| Element | C2-685 | Soft muddy green | Part of the palette; C2 says the combinations can bring out botanical aspects of Pueblo. |
| Ambrosia | C2-529 | Muted blushy coral | Part of the palette; C2 says the combinations can make Pueblo appear rosier or warmer. |
Because Pueblo itself shifts with light and context, treat these as starting points rather than guaranteed pairings. Compare samples together in the room before choosing wall, trim or cabinet colors.
What C2 means by “Rural Renaissance”
Rural Renaissance is C2’s name for the design story behind the 2027 palette. The company frames it as a turn toward closer engagement with the physical world: noticing seasons and light, growing and gathering food, cooking, making things by hand and working with natural materials. This is C2’s editorial framing, not an independently quantified finding that consumers everywhere are moving in the same direction.
C2 contrasts Pueblo with Epernay, its previous Color of the Year. In the company’s account, Epernay looked toward tradition, craftsmanship and restoration, while Pueblo represents renewed engagement and a more visceral use of color. The distinction describes C2’s intent for its successive selections, rather than an objective measurement of how either paint behaves.
